Floor sanding and polishing in Sydney
Many Sydney homes have original hardwood or Baltic pine boards under old carpet or lino. Sanding and recoating these is often better value than new flooring, and it keeps the character of the house.
What floor restoration involves
We punch nails, replace or patch damaged boards where needed, sand back the old finish, fill gaps if requested and apply new coats. Finishes range from matt to gloss, in water-based or other polyurethane systems, with stains available.
Is your floor worth sanding?
Boards with enough thickness above the tongue can usually be sanded. Heavily cupped, rotten or previously over-sanded boards may need replacing. We check this before quoting.
After carpet removal
If you're lifting old carpet, the boards underneath often have staples, gripper holes and stains. These are dealt with in the sanding process. See carpet removal if you'd like that done first.
Living with the finish
Allow the coating to cure as advised before moving furniture back and laying rugs. Felt pads and a damp mop keep the finish looking good, and a maintenance recoat every few years extends its life.
