Laminate flooring installation in Sydney
Laminate gives a timber look with a hard-wearing surface at a lower cost than real timber. It's a practical way to run one consistent floor through living areas, bedrooms and hallways, and it suits rentals and busy family homes.
What laminate is good at
Laminate has a tough, scratch-resistant top layer, so it copes well with everyday traffic, kids and pets. Water-resistant ranges are available, though for laundries and bathrooms hybrid or vinyl remains the safer choice.
How laminate is installed
Laminate is a floating floor: boards click together over an underlay without being fixed to the subfloor. Expansion gaps at walls are covered by skirting or scotia, and transitions are fitted at doorways and between rooms.
Why levelling matters
Because laminate floats, dips and humps in the slab make it feel hollow or bouncy. We check flatness, grind high spots and level low areas before installing, and use a moisture barrier on slabs where readings call for it.
Laminate in apartments
Floating laminate usually needs an acoustic underlay to meet strata requirements. We'll check your building's rules and supply the specifications for approval.
Care and maintenance
Vacuum or sweep regularly and use a barely damp mop. Avoid excess water, and use felt pads under furniture to prevent scratches.

Laminate Flooring questions
Everything Sydney homeowners and businesses ask before booking a flooring install.
Laminate or hybrid — which should I choose?+
Laminate usually feels warmer and more like timber underfoot; hybrid is fully waterproof. For kitchens and laundries we generally recommend hybrid.
Can laminate be sanded?+
No. Laminate has a printed surface under a wear layer, so damaged boards are replaced rather than sanded.
